Health Technology Assessment
The assessment that stands between evidence and a decision to adopt.
We support the assessment process that informs decisions on whether and how healthcare technologies should be adopted. Our expertise spans assessment question development, evidence synthesis, health economic evaluation, real-world evidence, and HTA report preparation. By evaluating the clinical effectiveness, safety, costs, and value of healthcare interventions, we provide the evidence needed to support informed and transparent healthcare decision-making.
How we support an assessment
Assessment methodology: Defining the assessment question, target population, comparator(s), and scope of the assessment, while establishing a transparent methodological framework for evaluating the available evidence.
Evidence requirements: Determining the clinical, economic, and real-world evidence needed to support adoption and implementation decisions, helping to identify potential evidence gaps early in the research process.
Evidence synthesis for an assessment: Where the evaluation require evidence from multiple sources for robust estimates of clinical effectiveness, resource utilization, costs, and health outcomes for use in economic models and evaluations Described under Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Economic evidence: Through cost-effectiveness, cost-utility, and budget impact analyses, providing insights into the value and affordability of healthcare technologies and program. Described under Health Economic Evaluation.
Assessment reports: Preparing comprehensive HTA reports that clearly present the methods, evidence, assumptions, results, and implications, tailored to the requirements of decision-making bodies and healthcare stakeholders.
Designing Research with HTA in Mind
The strongest evidence for adoption decisions is generated when assessment requirements are considered from the outset. Studies designed with future HTA needs in mind are more likely to collect the clinical, economic, and patient-centred outcomes required to evaluate both effectiveness and value. In contrast, important evidence gaps can be difficult, if not impossible, to address once data collection has been completed. Our team works with investigators at every stage of the research lifecycle, from study conception and grant development to evidence synthesis and evaluation, helping ensure that the evidence generated is fit for both scientific and decision-making purposes.
