National Coordination of Clinical Trials
Singapore's national clinical trials strategy is overseen by the National Clinical Research Enablers Committee (NCRC) and Singapore Clinical Research Institute (SCRI) and aims to enhance the local clinical trial ecosystem to facilitate faster access of healthcare innovation solutions to patients.
In mid-2019, a Clinical Trials Strategy Committee (CTSC) was set up and tasked to review the current clinical trials landscape and propose recommendations for a national clinical trials strategy to provide focus and to optimise clinical trials resources. The Human Health and Potential Executive Committee (HHP EXCO) had approved the recommendations, including the establishment of the National Clinical Trial Strategy Committee (NCTSC) to oversee the implementation of the national strategy for clinical trials and coordinate efforts across the healthcare clusters and industry. The NCTSC has now been replaced by the National Clinical Research Enablers Committee (NCRC) since November 2025 and is now working with SCRI on this important mission.
As Singapore's national coordinating body for clinical trials, SCRI works with public agencies, healthcare institutions and industry to build a clinical trial environment where innovative treatments can reach local patients sooner. We listen closely to those working across the ecosystem and act on the gaps they identify, such as shortening study start-up timelines. We walk alongside clinician and industry innovators as their work progresses, linking them with the partners best placed to take it further.
Some of the initiatives we lead to strengthen Singapore's clinical trial infrastructure and enable faster innovation include:
