Ecosystem Engagement
Learn more about how SCRI works closely with various stakeholders in Singapore's clinical trials landscape to enhance the country's clinical research ecosystem.

The successful delivery of clinical trials depends on close collaboration between sponsors, healthcare institutions, contract research organisations (CROs), government agencies, regulators, patient advocates, clinical research professionals and technology partners. SCRI works across these stakeholder groups to strengthen partnerships, identify opportunities for collaboration and support initiatives that enhance the country's clinical trials ecosystem.
Over the years, SCRI has established platforms that bring together stakeholders across the clinical research value chain to address common challenges, share perspectives and exchange ideas on the future of clinical trials. Through these engagements, SCRI supports ecosystem development in areas such as clinical trial competitiveness, patient participation, emerging trial methodologies, workforce development and operational excellence.
Industry Clinical Trial Sponsors
Singapore is home to a vibrant community of multinational pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms and emerging therapeutic developers.
To better understand industry needs and global clinical development trends, SCRI actively engages sponsors through structured industry dialogues, consultations and roundtables. These engagements provide opportunities for sponsors to share perspectives on factors influencing clinical trial placement, operational challenges, emerging therapeutic areas and future capability requirements.
A key component of this engagement is SCRI's collaboration with the Singapore Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (SAPI) and its Clinical Trials Working Group (CTWG). Through regular discussions with industry and public-sector stakeholders, SCRI facilitates conversations on decentralised clinical trials, digital innovation, patient recruitment, contracting efficiency and other topics important to Singapore's clinical trial ecosystem.
What we've done
Convened annual SCRI Roundtable involving more than 150 stakeholders from industry, healthcare and research sectors.
Partnered with SAPI’s CTWG to facilitate ecosystem-wide discussions on improving Singapore's clinical trial environment.
Gathered industry feedback and stakeholder insights to inform discussions on future clinical trial strategies and industry-sponsored research.
Supporting new biotech & medtech in navigating the clinical trials space through Singapore’s Clinical Trials Portal (CTSG)
Commercial Clinical Service Providers
Beyond sponsors, a strong clinical trial ecosystem requires a network of CROs, clinical technology companies, data providers and specialist service organisations capable of supporting increasingly complex clinical trials.
Recognising the growing importance of these stakeholders, SCRI engages CROs and service providers to understand operational realities on the ground, identify capability gaps and gather perspectives on what is required to support next-generation clinical trials.
These discussions have explored topics such as study start-up challenges, emerging trial modalities, digital technologies and future workforce requirements.
What we've done
Convene bi-annual CRO engagement with EDB to create a channel for dialogue between CROs and ecosystem stakeholders.
Worked with EDB and industry partners to better understand requirements for attracting innovative clinical trials to Singapore.
Facilitated discussions on emerging operational models including supporting more biotech and medtech clinical trials.
Public Sector Clinical Trial Players
A competitive clinical trials ecosystem depends on strong collaboration across healthcare institutions, regulators and government agencies.
SCRI works closely with Singapore's public healthcare clusters, including SingHealth, NHG Health and NUHS, as well as key national agencies such as HSA, EDB, Enterprise Singapore and A*STAR to support ecosystem development and capability-building efforts.
These engagements provide opportunities for stakeholders to align priorities, share insights and support initiatives that enhance Singapore's clinical trial capabilities and research competitiveness.
What we've done
Facilitated cross-sector discussions involving healthcare clusters, agencies and industry stakeholders.
Supported national conversations on future clinical trial strategies and ecosystem priorities.
Created platforms that encourage greater collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.
Patient Organisations & Professional Communities
Patients are at the centre of clinical research.
SCRI engages patient advocacy groups, clinical research professionals, academic partners and healthcare stakeholders to strengthen awareness, encourage collaboration and support discussions on patient involvement in research.
SCRI also contributes to capability development across Singapore's clinical research community by supporting professional networking, workforce development and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
What we've done
Facilitated ecosystem discussions on improving patient participation and engagement in clinical research.
Supported the growth of Singapore's clinical research professional community through networking and professional development initiatives.
Brought together patient, healthcare and research stakeholders to share perspectives on the future of clinical research.
Connecting the Ecosystem
A defining strength of SCRI's role is its ability to bring together stakeholders who may not otherwise have opportunities to collaborate.
Through industry roundtables, SAPI engagements, CRO dialogue sessions, professional community initiatives and the SCRI Clinical Trials Symposium, SCRI provides neutral platforms for stakeholders across the clinical trial ecosystem to exchange perspectives, identify common challenges and explore opportunities for collaboration.
The SCRI Clinical Trials Symposium has become one of Singapore's largest clinical research platforms, convening approximately 500 clinicians, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers and ecosystem partners to discuss the future of clinical research, innovation and patient-centred trial delivery.
