Business Development & Operations
SCRI's Business Development and Operations team works alongside Singapore's clinicians and industry alike. With investigators, we help carry an innovation from concept to trial, in Singapore and beyond. With pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech partners, we open the clinical expertise and trial infrastructure available here and across the region. Whether you are a clinician with a research concept or a sponsor exploring Singapore, we would be glad to be your first conversation.
What we do comes down to conversations. A clinician with an idea, a sponsor weighing up where to run a trial and such. Our job is to make sure neither of them has to figure it out alone. Opening doors for clinicians, clearing the path for sponsors, and building partnerships across the region are what we want to accomplish.— Dr. Eugene Gan, Senior Director, Operations

What we do
Our work falls into three areas of engagement — with industry, with clinicians, and across the region.
Industry engagement
Bringing industry trials to Singapore
Clinician engagement
Helping investigators take ideas further
Regional engagement
Extending our research reach across the region
Industry engagement
We work with pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech companies to bring their trials to Singapore, and help them navigate the clinical, regulatory and operational landscape here. From first enquiry to trial start-up, we make the path clearer.
Our activities span the practical and the strategic:
Running talks for the innovation community — sessions led by subject matter experts, opening up the science, regulation and practice behind clinical research
Conducting regional study visits — hosting delegations here and visiting partners across the region, exchanging first-hand views of clinical research capabilities, practice and opportunities
Participating in process improvement with ecosystem partners — working alongside regulators, healthcare clusters and agencies to synergise new research opportunities and collaborations
Hosting one-on-one sponsor consultations — direct guidance on navigating the clinical trial and innovation pathway, tailored to your study and stage
Whatever brings you to us, the conversation starts the same way: tell us what you are trying to do, and we will point you to the right people and the right route.
Clinician engagement
We support investigators who want to take an idea further — connecting them with industry partners or supporting their research for a better clinical outcome. Our aim is to help good research questions become well-run trials.
Our work with clinicians is deliberately personal:
Meeting the clinicians on the ground — direct conversations with SCRI management, where an investigator can talk through an idea, a challenge or a possibility without a formal process getting in the way
Listening to experienced and emerging investigators — gathering survey feedback on their research interests and the obstacles they face, so that our support reflects what clinicians actually need on the ground
Partnering institutional research offices — working alongside research offices across our healthcare clusters to synergise research collaborations for their clinical investigators
Pathing the way for research and operational support, big and small — from study design advice and protocol input to operational backing for multi-site trials, scaled to what the study calls for
A research question can start small. If you have an idea worth pursuing, we would like to hear it.
Regional engagement
We extend Singapore's clinical research reach across southeast asia and beyond, building the networks and partnerships that make multi-country studies possible. Where a trial needs scale, the region gives it depth.
Scaling a study is an ongoing effort and it takes several forms:
Collaborative MOUs across the region — formal partnerships with institutions and organisations to explore collaborative models
Clinician-driven research and registry networks — supporting investigator-led networks and registries that generate evidence relevant to Asian patients and health systems, together with our Clinical Research Networks and Programme Management teams
Trial collaboratives with clinical institutions — working with hospitals and research centres across the region to enable multi-site, multi-country studies possible
Regional capability-building — creating opportunities to mutually share expertise and best practices so partners across the region can conduct and lead research to the same benchmarks
For sponsors, this means access to patient populations and clinical expertise beyond Singapore. For our regional partners, it means a collaborator invested in building capability, not just recruiting sites.
