Dr. Sanjay Mittal is a globally recognized cardiologist and clinical researcher with over 35 years of experience in academic and clinical practice. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of Clinical & Preventive Cardiology and Research at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram.

At Medanta, he oversees the Heart Failure Program and non-invasive cardiology, specializing in advanced diagnostics such as Multiplane Transesophageal Echocardiography and Stress Echocardiography. His foundational training includes a DM in Cardiology from King George’s Medical College and extensive international fellowships at institutions like Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic.

As the overall in-charge of Medanta’s Research Program, Dr. Mittal leads the Medanta Institute of Education and Research (MIER). He previously established Medanta Duke Research Institute, a joint venture between Medanta and Duke Medicine to function as a specialized 60-bed facility focused on conducting "proof of concept" (POC) studies and accelerating the development of new therapies. His research expertise focuses on developing high-quality protocols and accurate risk-prediction scoring systems specifically tailored for the Indian population. Dr. Mittal has served as a Principal Investigator for numerous landmark international clinical trials, ensuring Indian cardiology remains at the forefront of global scientific advancement.

  • Heart Failure: EMPEROR-HFrEF, EMPEROR-HFpEF, DAPA-HF, PARADISE-MI, EASI-HF, and HERMES.

A visionary in medical technology, Dr. Mittal is a core developer of the COAPSYS and Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) device. He is currently spearheading the integration of AI/ML innovations into diagnostics, collaborating on projects for AI -generated imaging in CT and mammography. His work in preventive cardiology utilizes advanced tools to analyze coronary plaque and inflammatory environments.
