Prof Takahashi is Professor and chairman of Department of Ophthalmology in Kansai Medical University(KMU) and is also Library director in KMU. He graduated KMU and KMU postgraduate school. He completed two years research fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology Laboratory (directed by Prof Mark Tso), Eye and Ear Infirmary, University of Illinois at Chicago. His research field contains basic research of choroidal neovascularization in animals and human eye and clinical research of age-related macular degeneration. He was a member of creating committee of diagnostic criteria of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, diagnostic criteria and classification of AMD and treatment guideline of AMD in Japan. He is attending to many AMD and PCV treatment trials such as Everest II, PLANET and ALTAIR study.
