Dr. Rinaldi Lesmana is a rising star in the field of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy in his country. He was graduated for medicine from Diponegoro University, Semarang in 2001, and he finished his post graduate course in internal medicine in 2006. After finished his residency, he did the government medical service in remote area until 2007. In 2008, he further continued with his GI fellowship programme at Department of Internal Medicine, Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, Jakarta. He received his PhD degree in 2012 and promoted as the youngest physician who achieved the highest academic degree with an outstanding translational research in hepatitis B infection. He has received several awards for his research in many National and International scientific meetings.

He underwent several additional training for basic and advanced endoscopy procedures at Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG), Hyderabad, India; liver stiffness measurement at Hopital Haut Leveaque, Bordeaux, France; basic virology hepatitis B at Victorian Infectious Disease Reference Laboratory (VIDRL), North Melbourne, Australia and portal hypertension at Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi, India. He also joined some observership programme at National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore; Department of Interdisciplinary Endoscopy, Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany and Department of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, University of Amsterdam, AMC, the Netherlands. After he finished PhD fellowship, he received more advanced training in Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) at Baldota Institute of Digestive Sciences, Global Hospital, Mumbai, India.

Currently he is elected as one of Asia Pacific Association for The Study of The Liver (APASL) Executive Council Member and he has also been invited to give lectures in International scientific meetings. He has made some publications at peer-reviewed International journals and his interests include Hepatopancreaticobiliary disorders, liver cancer, cholangiocarcinoma and pancreatic cancer.
