Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy Research Network (PCVNet)

  • About PCVNet

The Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy Research Network (PCVNet) was established in 2018. The PCVNet is a non-profit research network formed with the aims to reduce visual morbidity due to PCV and to deepen the understanding of the disease, by providing a collaborative research network for PCV researchers. The PCVNet comprises some of the top-tier medical practitioner in the field of PCV from around the world.

Background

Even as PCV clinical research has reached a major milestone with several large RCTs bearing fruits, controversies exist as to its diagnosis and classification. For example, PCV is increasingly recognized as an aneurysmal variant of type 1 CNV, but many cases are also recognized to be part of the pachychoroid spectrum, not of typical wet AMD.

We hope that the setup of the PCVNet can encourage more investigator-initiated multi-center studies for Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy (PCV) and related ocular conditions. Most of all, we hope PCVNet will be a platform for the exchange of ideas and intellectual discourse on PCV patient care.
