Clinical Research Coordinator Level 1 Programme (March 2018 intake)

On 16 March 2018, the SCRI Academy held its inaugural training session of the Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) Level 1 Programme at NTU@one-north. The 12-week programme was designed for CRCs with less than one year of experience, equipping them with the basic knowledge of coordinating a clinical trial. The first intake comprised 29 clinical research staff from the three local public healthcare clusters and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).

Ms Tan Siew Hoon was the trainer for the Week 1 module. She gave participants an introduction to clinical trials, covering an overview of the drug development process. She also covered topics such as Good Clinical Practice and Elements of Protocol.

On 23 March 2018, SCRI CEO Associate Professor Teoh Yee Leong conducted the Week 2 module. He lectured on key therapeutic areas, common diseases, related medical terminology and the type of clinical trials in each respective area.

The SCRI Academy also incorporated classroom discussions and interesting case scenarios into the programme to help CRCs more easily apply learned concepts to their daily work.
