SCRI aims to improve the data integrity and operational efficiency of clinical research by establishing, implementing and maintaining a suitable system to provide the capability for electronic data capture (EDC).
The EDC system transforms the process of clinical trials data collection from paper-based case report forms (CRF) to electronic CRF's, allowing faster production of clean data, more efficient monitoring of study progress and a more effective use of resources for critical and timely decision-making.
In addition to facilitating data management, EDC streamlines clinical processes, dramatically reducing errors and cutting operational costs. It also addresses the issues of safeguarding patient privacy and safety, improving data quality and data standardization, providing global accessibility and meeting regulatory compliance.
The features of EDC include:
- Supporting adaptive trial,
- Accessing and security control (Supporting study-site and CRF-level security),
- Supporting site eCRF training,
- Supporting site eCRF data entry,
- Supporting CRA's source data verification,
- Supporting investigator's eCRF data entry and approval,
- Performing and supporting query management,
- Supporting eCRF reports,
- Performing eCRF lock.
SCRI currently engages two platforms for EDC, covering both investigator-initiated research and industry-sponsored research:
| Not for profit, Investigator-initiated research | |

REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure, Web-based database application designed to support traditional case report form data capture for research studies. Developed by Vanderbilt University, REDCap is an easy, fast and inexpensive data collection and management tool to meet all of your data management needs. REDCap Survey is an additional powerful tool for building and managing online surveys (similar to Survey Monkey). You can create and design surveys in your Web browser and engage potential respondents using a variety of notification methods. The REDCap Consortium is comprised of 68 active institutional partners and is utilized in five continents. It supports two web-based applications (REDCap and REDCap Survey) designed exclusively to support data capture for research studies. Currently over 1,000 studies spanning numerous research areas utilize REDCap. More information on REDCap > |
