The Singapore Branch of the Australasian Cochrane Centre was established in 2005 to support Cochrane Collaboration activities in the South-East Asian region. Since its foundation the Singapore Cochrane Branch has been directed by Dr Edwin Chan Shih-Yen. Sources of funding for the manpower, infrastructure and activities of the Singapore branch are funded from Singapore's National Medical Research Council (NMRC) core funding to the Singapore Clinical Research Institute (SCRI) The Singapore Branch hosted the 17th Cochrane Colloquium in October 2009. This international annual meeting of the Cochrane Collaboration and trail-blazing international conference on evidence-based healthcare was held in Asia.
