Coordinating Centre

As a Coordinating Centre, SCRI fosters multi-institutional academic research through the development of personnel, sites and infrastructure, central coordination and management towards the common goal of scientific excellence.

SCRI leverages on the frameworks and platforms established as part of its clinical research network initiative to develop the people, processes and systems needed to effectively execute this common goal.

Specifically, the purpose of SCRI's  role as a coordinating centre is to:

  • Create a platform that links academic leaders with research interest in the same disease areas, facilitating  scientific exchange and discussion
  • Provide the expertise and infrastructure to enable the efficient and effective conduct of clinical research in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific Region
  • Provide core expertise in study design methodology, clinical epidemiology, protocol writing, project management, data management and data analysis
  • Establish dedicated units responsible for business management and quality assurance
  • Provide platforms and /or tools for education, training, information sharing and management of research operations
  • Provide intellectual leadership by developing novel clinical trial protocols, and by engaging in methodological and quantitative studies in medicine
  • Mentor investigators and quantitative scientists who may be new to clinical research
  • Facilitate the career development of clinical scientists and other clinical research personnel
