The goal of the Scientific Development Division is to develop intellectual leadership, which can be accomplished through the following strategic thrusts:
The Scientific Development Division includes our Biostatistics and Epidemiology Departments. The activities and expertise embraces randomised clinical trials, clinical epidemiology, observational study design and analysis, evidence synthesis, meta-analysis and clinical practice guideline development. Our biostatisticians and epidemiologists assist in identifying the appropriate study design, estimation of sample size requirement, and the development of the statistical analysis plan. They work closely with the rest of the study team in the designing of the Case Report Forms (CRFs) and the setting up of the electronic database. At the end of the study, they carry out the necessary analysis and participate in the writing of the analysis report and academic publications, in collaboration with the Clinical Investigators. In addition, SCRI hosts the Singapore Branch of the Australasian Cochrane Centre. The Singapore Cochrane team offers advice, collaboration and administrative support to clinical teams seeking to do high quality systematic reviews, independently or under the aegis of the Cochrane Collaboration.
