The Cochrane Collaboration is an international not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to collate and critically review the best available evidence in every field of healthcare. About 22,000 members worldwide (mostly volunteer healthcare professionals) collaborate to make this information easily available for both healthcare professionals, patients, funders and policy-makers at all levels, so that they can make better evidence-informed decisions on individual and public health treatments. More than 50 Cochrane Review Groups specialising in various areas of healthcare, work to systematically identify, appraise and synthesise all high quality research evidence relevant to important medical treatment questions. Cochrane systematic reviews are published online in The Cochrane Library and the rigorous review process and regular updating have won them an international reputation as the gold-standard for systematic reviews. Cochrane Centres and Branches such as the Singapore Branch are located in many countries to supply support and training for Review Groups.
